Comcast Internet Essentials Brings $10 High-Speed Internet to 3 Million More Homes

Comcast announced today an expansion of their Internet Essentials program to include all qualified low income households in their service area. With the expansion, three million additional households are eligible including homes with people with disabilities — to bring total eligible households to 7 million.

The program, which started in August 2011 has connected more than eight million low-income individuals to date. Last year, the program expended to include low-income veterans. To qualify, applicants need to be part of one of more than a dozen government assistance programs including:

  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • National School Lunch Program
  • Receive HUD Housing Assistance
  • Veterans Pension Program
  • Low-Income Seniors
  • Community College Students (in select markets)

If you qualify, you will receive 15 Mbps internet access with in-home WiFi, without a contract, credit check, installation fee. To get started, you can apply on the Internet Essentials website with qualifying docs.
