On July 3, Disney+ released the Broadway hit “Hamilton.” (It was originally scheduled to hit movie theaters October 2021.)
Now, the streamer is enhancing the experience. “Hamilton: History Has Its Eyes on You” debuts on July 10.
The show is hosted by ABC News’ “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts and addresses how the musical/film became a global sensation.
It features Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical’s creator, and director Thomas Kail, as well as original cast members, such as Phillipa Soo, Christopher Jackson, Leslie Odom Jr, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Okieriete Onaodowan and Daveed Diggs.
Also joining the streaming discussion is Harvard Professor Annette Gordon-Reed.
Roberts asks participants if current social and political realities, including the protests for racial equality, reflect the struggles of “Hamilton’s” time. Also, if the production is true to history.
“After you listen to their insights and perspectives, it will heighten your viewing of ‘Hamilton,’” says Roberts.
“Hamilton: History Has Its Eyes on You” is produced by Rock ‘n Robin Productions and ABC News for Disney+. Robin Roberts and John R. Green are executive producers.
