AT&T, the parent company of DirecTV and streaming service DIRECTV NOW, announced a new carriage deal with Epix, the premium channel owned by MGM. The channel can be added for $5.99 a month and will launch on May 19th. Epix has a library of 2,000 films, as well as original series like Get Shorty and Deep State, with new shows Godfather of Harlem and Pennyworth coming later this year.
In a statement, Epix President Michael Wright said:
“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with AT&T and make our growing slate of original programming and Hollywood movies accessible to viewers across the DirecTV universe.”
Cord-cutters are already familiar with the channel. Epix, which previously was part of Sling’s Hollywood Extra pack, moved to a standalone $5 a month option on Sling TV earlier this year. Just last month, YouTube TV added the channel as a $6 a month add-on to their streaming service. Its sister-network, EPIX Hits, is available on PlayStation Vue's Elite & Ultra plans.

In February, the company launched a direct-to-consumer offering called EPIX NOW, which offers the same content directly from Epix for $5.99 a month. It was announced that the service will be made a part of Apple’s upcoming Apple TV Channels service, after they were one of Roku’s launch partners for their similar premium subscription service earlier this year.
