With the Stanley Cup Qualifiers completed, the league will be holding the second part of the NHL draft lottery to determine who will get the first overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. The good news is you can stream the NHL Draft Lottery online even if you don’t have cable.
2020 NHL Draft Lottery

Teams that played in the qualifying round, but failed to make the playoffs during the NHL restart, will have equal odds for lottery spots the second phase of the draft lottery. That means the Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Pittsburgh Penguins will each have a 12.5% chance.
The Draft Lottery will air on both NHL Network and NBCSN, and feature interviews with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman who will pull the winning team live on the broadcast. There will also be consensus top prospect Alexis Lafreniere, and the general manager of the organization that wins the Draft Lottery.
The draft lottery will determine the final 8 spots in the 2020 NHL Draft, but because there is still a qualifying round to play, it may require a second drawing.
The First Phase of the lottery, held June 26, included the seven teams that were not part of the 24-team NHL Return to Play Plan, plus the eight placeholder positions for the eliminated qualifiers. A separate drawing was held for each of the top three picks.
The winning placeholder, designated Team E, had a 2.5 percent chance to be assigned the No. 1 pick, the 12th-best odds among the 15 entries.
The Los Angeles Kings moved up to the No. 2 pick, and the Ottawa Senators received the No. 3 pick. The Detroit Red Wings, who had the best odds to win the No. 1 pick, fell to No. 4.
