About Stevenson vs. Caraballo

Stevenson comes into the match as the WBO featherweight world titleholder. Hailing from Newark, New Jersey, Stevenson is going up a weight class and comes in with an impressive four fights under his belt from his bouts in 2019. He bested Jessie Cris Rosales in January in a fourth-round TKO victory, won a unanimous decision against Christopher Diaz in April, snagged a third-round KO victory against Alberto Guevara in July and scored another unanimous decision over Joet Gonzalez in October to win the vacant title, according to ESPN. Stevenson was meant to defend his title against Miguel Marriaga on March 14, but the pandemic put a kibosh on the match.

Puerto Rico’s Caraballo may be coming in as an underdog, but he seems more than ready to take on the well-known defending champ. Caraballo has won five consecutive fights, three of those by stoppage, reports ESPN. The match will be his first match outside of Puerto Rico and while footage of his fighting is limited, Stevenson doesn’t seem phased by the competitor. For his part, Caraballo is staying focused and unintimidated. “I don’t got [sic] no pressure,” Caraballo told Fansided. “I feel that this moment, I have to give it all. This is a great opportunity. I’m gonna fight and give it all on June 9. I know that I’m going in with a great boxer.”

The card also includes Jared Anderson vs. Johnnie Langston, Guido Vianello vs. Donald Haynesworth, Robeisy Ramirez vs. Yeuri Andujar, and Calvin Metcalf vs. Quatavious Cash.
