Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas, will host the 2020 Arkansas Derby, which will feature “several of the top three-year-olds in the country, including many who were pointing to the Kentucky Derby before it was postponed until September,” according to CBS Sports.
Racing in the Arkansas Derby usually bodes well for the horses that go on to compete in the Kentucky Derby. NBC Sports notes that “seven Arkansas Derby runners went on to win that year’s Kentucky Derby, including last year’s official Kentucky Derby winner Country House who finished third at Oaklawn.”
NBC Sports says the crowd at Oaklawn will probably be “the smallest crowd in decades” because “Oaklawn is not allowing any fans at the track due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
