Quibi Releases Sneak Peek of ‘Reno 911!’ Reboot

With less than a month before its launch, Quibi released a sneak peek of its reboot of “Reno 911!” The show, which was created by Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Thomas Lennon is being revived on the new platform for a seventh season after being a Comedy Central staple for its first six.

The show follows “the courageous men and women of the Reno Sheriff’s Department as they lay down the law and put their lives on the line. The RENO 911! camera doesn’t blink — and when the bullets start flying, the Reno Sheriff’s Department will be right behind you,” a statement from Quibi read.

Garant, Kenney-Silver and Lennon will also return as writers as well as stars of the show. Niecey Nash, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cedric Yarbrough, Carlos Alazraqui, Ian Roberts, Joe Lo Truglio and Mary Birdsong will also star in the series.

Recently, the upcoming streaming service made headlines when they filed a lawsuit hoping to pacify Eko — an interactive-video company — that was claiming Quibi infringed a patent they hold over a technology similar to the Turnstyle technology Quibi announced during CES 2020.

Quibi denied the claims stating, “Our Turnstyle technology was developed internally at Quibi by our talented engineers and we have, in fact, received a patent for it. These claims have absolutely no merit and we will vigorously defend ourselves against them in court.”

Quibi (short for quick bites) is set to launch on April 6 and will focus on high-quality short form content that is designed to be watched on your smartphone. The mobile streaming streaming will offer two plans — $4.99 with ads and $7.99 without ads. The ad-supported product will include a pre-roll ad, as well as a one to two mid-roll ads depending on the length of the content.
