New Details Emerge About the New Android TV-Powered Xiaomi Mi TV Stick

It looks like Xiaomi users will be getting a new device soon. Back in May, 9to5Google reported that a listing for the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick had shown up in the Gearbest online store. At the time, the product was speculated to “be running on an identical package as the Xiaomi Mi Box S,” and because the listing mentioned Google Assistant, it was believed the new stick was compatible with Android TV.

Now, a user on Reddit via TradingShenzhen.com has obtained more details about the Mi TV Stick. According to the new listing, the device will also have built-in Chromecast and is powered by Android TV 9.0. It will come with Google Assistant and support Dolby+DTS premium audio.

The Mi TV Stick will be also portable, with no cable and takes only three steps to set up. The device will also allow you to pre-install services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video and gives users access to the Google Play Store for more apps.

In their earlier report, 9to5Google also speculated the Mi TV Stick might cost more that the Mi Box S as it was listed for $80 on Gearbest, and the Mi Box costs $59. An image leaked after an online event showed that the Mi TV Stick also had a Prime Video shortcut button.
