‘Star Trek: Picard’ Premiere Boosts CBS All Access Subscriber Sign-Ups

CBS All Access announced that the premiere of “Star Trek: Picard” helped in breaking its record for subscriber sign-ups in a month. Along with the live stream of the Grammys and football, January 2020 beat the previous monthly record of February 2019. The company also announced that last week was the second-best sign-up week ever for the service. Definitive numbers were not released.

“CBS All Access continues to build upon its great mix of programming — from original series, to sports and special events — and we’ve strategically programmed 2020 to bring subscribers an ‘always on’ calendar of must-watch series and events,” said Marc DeBevoise, Chief Digital Officer, ViacomCBS, and president and CEO, CBS Interactive.

CBS All Access also reported that the premiere of “Picard” also broke a new record for total streams and drove the highest volume of subscribers streaming a CBS All Access original series to date. The series is now the streamer’s most-watched premiere ever, beating its predecessor, “Star Trek: Discovery.”

The series premiere of “Picard” is currently available to stream, and new episodes of the series will be available every Thursday exclusively on CBS All Access in the U.S. The popular series has already been renewed for a second season.
