Xiaomi Launches Their Latest Android TV Device Mi Box S

Xiaomi announced a new streaming box called Mi Box S which supports 4K HDR at 60fps with Dolby DTS surround sound. The new Android TV device runs Android TV 8.1 (the latest version) and includes access to the Google Assistant and in-app voice search.

Unfortunately, the internals of the device are largely the same of its predecessor. It includes a Cortext-A53 Quad Core 64 bit CPU, with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI, and USB 2.0 port.

Similar to the Chromecast update yesterday, most of the Mi Box changes are cosmetic. The device comes in a matte black and with an updated remote.

The new bluetooth remote includes new buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix, and Live TV. You also can control your TV’s power and volume.

As with other Android TV boxes, you can Cast to the device just like a Chromecast. This means you can cast photos, videos, movies from your phone onto your TV wirelessly from your devices.

The device is now $10 cheaper at $59.99. It is available for pre-order on Walmart and will begin shipping on November 6.
