Disney Plus Drops Trailer for ‘The Right Stuff’ Drama

America’s love affair with space began during the Cold War.

On October 9, Disney+ debuts its original eight-episode limited series “The Right Stuff,” which chronicles the story of the first American astronauts and the journey of Mercury 7. (Two episodes will debut at its premiere.)

Based on the Tom Wolfe book, set in 1959 at the height of tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, the series explores the characters, politics and personalities behind the U.S. Space Program.

“The Right Stuff” is the true-life, aspirational drama about a singular race for fame and immortality — and a country’s desire to dominate space — in just two years.

The cast, portraying NASA engineers and astronauts, includes Patrick Fischler, Eric Ladin, Patrick J. Adams Jake McDorman, Colin O’Donoghue, Aaron Staton, Scott Carpenter, Micah Stock and Michael Trotter.

“The Right Stuff” also explores the mission’s profound impact on families and the women behind the men who made space history.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and Warner Bros. Television are producing for National Geographic. Five different directors will helm the series.
