HBO Max Orders ‘The Prince,’ an Animated Series From ‘Family Guy’ Producer Gary Janetti

HBO Max is reaching across the pond as the streaming service just ordered a satirical animated comedy series based on the British royal family. Written and executive produced by “Family Guy” producer Gary Janetti, “The Prince” will follow a young Prince George as he navigates life as a six-year-old future king. The series is based on Janetti’s popular Instagram account, which he uses to poke fun at the royals and the press coverage about them, according to Deadline.

The series will star Janetti as the voice of the young prince, along with Orlando Bloom as Prince Harry, Condola Rashad as Meghan Markle, Lucy Punch as Kate Middleton, Tom Hollander as Prince Phillip, Alan Cumming as Prince George’s Butler, Owen, Frances De La Tour as Queen Elizabeth and Iwan Rheon as Prince William.

“We’re so excited to bring the world Gary’s created on Instagram over to HBO Max, where our viewers can discover what his Instagram fans already know — that George can be hilarious, shocking and surprisingly sweet,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “We can’t wait to see what Gary does with a bigger canvas to paint on than just a 1:1 square.”

“The Prince” is the second project Janetti has with HBO Max. He is set to star in “Brad and Gary Go To…” along with husband, Brad Goreski.

HBO Max, will debut in the U.S. in May 2020 at $14.99 per month. HBO Max will launch with 10,000 hours of curated premium content including the entire HBO service, bundled with new HBO Max Originals that expand the breadth of the offering targeted at young adults, kids and families. In 2020, WarnerMedia expects to have 69 original series including 31 Max Originals, and by 2021 they expect to have 88 original series including 50 Max Originals.
