New ‘Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe’ Streams on Disney Plus August 28
Disney+ has slated the upcoming animated movie “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe” for August 28.
The soundtrack from Walt Disney Records will be available the same day.
The new movie sends stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb on a rescue mission. Their sister Candace has been abducted by aliens, but finds a paradise free of little brothers. Even though she is often exasperated by her siblings, the boys travel the galaxy to find her.
The film features the same actors who voiced their original TV show roles.
Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn; Vincent Martella as Phineas Flynn; Caroline Rhea as their mom, Linda; Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus; Alyson Stoner as Isabella; Maulik Pancholy as Baljeet; Bobby Gaylor as Buford; Olivia Olson as Vanessa Doofenshmirtz; Tyler Mann as Carl; and Povenmire and Marsh as Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram, respectively. David Errigo Jr. joins the cast as Ferb Fletcher.
New movie cast members include actor-comedians Ali Wong and Wayne Brady.
Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, creators-executive producers of the Emmy winning series, will also executive produce the movie. Danny Jacob (“Phineas and Ferb”) will compose the music.
“It’s a tightrope walk when you have a whole generation of [fans] that you know are going to tune into this, and you want to give them stuff, but you also want to give the new people something they can digest,” Povenmire told EW. “But we just wanted to make sure the people who grew up with Phineas and Ferb would love the movie. We’re hoping this show gets watched in college dorm rooms all over the country.”
All four seasons of the original series “Phineas and Ferb,” along with the Disney Channel original movie “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension,” are streamable on Disney+.
Beginning August 25, all episodes will be presented on Disney XD leading up to the movie’s premiere.
