NFL Kickoff Game on Peacock, NFL Mobile, and Yahoo Saw Largest Streaming Audience of Non-Super Bowl Game on NBC

The 2021 NFL opener between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys saw the highest ever streaming average minute audience for a non-Super Bowl NBC NFL game.

The Average Minute Audience (AMA) for last night’s live stream via Peacock, NBC Sports Digital platforms, NFL Digital platforms, Cowboys and Buccaneers mobile properties, and Yahoo Sports mobile properties was approximately 1.6 million viewers – up 64% from last year’s NFL Kickoff Game (970,000). Overall, there were approximately 24.4 million viewers on NBC.

In comparison, the Super Bowl saw an average 5.7 million viewers per minute of their streaming broadcast of the Bucs 31-9 win.

In December 2020, Amazon Prime Video saw the first exclusive NFL telecast on their service in the matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals. The NFL said that game streamed on Amazon Prime Video, Twitch, NFL, and Yahoo! Sports apps saw a 4.8 million average minute audience.

This was NBC’s first “Sunday Night Football” telecast that also streamed on Peacock to those with Peacock Premium. In previous seasons, you needed to authenticate with TV Everywhere credentials to be able to watch on your streaming player or smart TV.
