Peacock to Live Stream First 4 Consecutive Episodes of ‘Saturday Night Live’ Season 47 on NBC Starting Oct. 2
The 47th Season of Saturday Night Live premieres on Saturday, October 2 with four consecutive weeks of live shows aired coast-to-coast on NBC and live-streamed on Peacock. The shows will be simulcast across the nation at 11:30 pm ET/8:30 pm PT.
Owen Wilson hosts the season premiere of SNL on October 2 with musical guest Kacey Musgraves. Wilson co-starred this summer in the first season of Loki on Disney+ and is next up in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, in theaters on October 22. He’s making his first appearance as host of SNL. Musgraves will make her second appearance as musical guest. Her newest album, “star-crossed,” debuted this week at #1 on the Album Sales Chart with a companion film now streaming on Paramount+.
Kim Kardashian West will host SNL for the first time on October 9. Halsey will appear that night for the fourth time as SNL musical guest, after just releasing the new album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” which has debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Current Albums chart.
The following week, October 16, Rami Malek will make his SNL hosting debut. The Emmy and Academy Award-winning actor stars in the new James Bond film No Time to Die, in theaters on October 8. That night, Young Thug will perform as musical guest for the first time. The Grammy Award winner’s forthcoming album, “PUNK,” will be released Oct. 15.
The Emmy Award-winning co-creator, executive producer and star of Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso, Jason Sudeikis, will return to Studio 8H for his first appearance as SNL host on October 23. Brandi Carlile will make her musical guest debut. “In These Silent Days,” the highly anticipated new album from the six-time Grammy Award winner, is set to be released on October 1.
In March 2017, NBC officials decided to carry the final four episodes of SNL’s 42nd season live in all mainland US time zones at the same time.
“SNL is part of the national conversation, and we thought it would be a great idea to broadcast to the west and mountain time zones live at the same time it’s being seen in the east and central time zones,” NBC Entertainment Robert Greenblatt Chairman said at the time. “That way, everyone is in on the joke at the same time.”
Beginning with the start of the following fall season, the practice was continued by NBC, and is one that continues to this day. Additionally, outside of the mainland U.S., the show also airs live on NBC stations in Alaska. SNL remains tape-delayed in Hawaii and Guam.
In May 2021, when billionaire Elon Musk appeared as host of SNL, the network live-streamed the episode on YouTube around the world. According to Variety, the move was an “attempt to broaden the audience tuning into the program at a single moment.”
In addition to the live broadcast on NBC, Peacock will live stream the first four episodes of SNL’s 47th season starting with the premiere on October 2 at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT. Peacock also has every season of Saturday Night Live, going back to 1975, available for viewers to stream.

A late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show created by Lorne Michaels. Each episode is hosted by a celebrity guest, who usually delivers an opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast, and features performances by a musical guest.
