Amazon Partners with Philo to Bring Skinny Bundle to Fire TV Universal Grid Guide, Adds Alexa & Google Assistant Support
Earlier today we reported that Philo appeared to have testing an integration into Android TV’s Live Channels — well it turns out it wasn’t the only universal guide.
The company — which offers a $16 a month skinny bundle for 44 live channels (AMC, Discovery, HGTV) announced that they have rolled out an integration with Amazon Fire TV. Additionally, the service now works with smart voice speakers like Amazon Echo and Google Home
Additionally, they did make one small tweak to Android TV devices adding the ability to show your favorite channels on the home screen.
Philo joins PlayStation Vue as the only Live TV Streaming Services to integrate with the Fire TV interface. With the exception of YouTube TV, most other Live TV Streaming Services like Sling TV and Hulu Live TV do offer Fire TV Apps but without the native integration into the Fire TV’s interface.
Fire TV Home Screen
Now, if you have a (buy-link Philo) subscription, live channels will appear on the On Now section of the Fire TV home screen. If you select a show, it will instantly start streaming the live stream.
Fire TV Channel Guide
Philo is now available from the Fire TV built-in Channel Guide. The guide can aggregate content from Philo, Amazon Channels, and your OTA antenna. You can customize the guide so you see your favorite channels first.
Alexa Voice Search
You can access Philo either with your Alexa Voice Remote or connected Echo.
For instance:
“Alexa, tune to Discovery”
“Alexa, search for Fixer Upper”
“Alexa, pause.”
Android TV Home Screen
You can now add your favorite channels to the Android TV home screen, so you can easily access shows without opening Philo
Google Home Voice Search
You can access Philo either with your Google Home or Google Home Mini.
For instance:
“Ok Google, tune to HGTV”
“Ok Google, search for The Walking Dead”
“Alexa, pause.”
