Andy Samberg to Host ‘Dinky Food’ Cooking Competition Show for Quibi

Andy Samberg, star of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” is a fan of “dinky food.” And he’s taking that love to Quibi.

He will host and executive produce a Quibi show in which two top chefs compete to produce the best meal in a single bite. For example, chefs will be asked to make spaghetti and meatballs on a tiny plate or a succulent meal with one grain of rice.

Mobile streaming platform Quibi debuts in April 2020.

Samberg, a Golden Globe winner, told Deadline: “I’m excited to bring my expertise in dinky things to the dinky cooking arena, and I’m also excited to bring a bag lunch, because the food is so dinky, I’m for sure going to still be hungry after the shows.”

Samberg, who returns in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” for a seventh season February 6, will produce the untitled show with Triage Entertainment. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” has already been renewed for an eighth season.

Quibi is the brainchild of former Disney executive Jeffrey Katzenberg. It has lined up various stars for upcoming series, including Dave Franco who will star in the Farrelly Bros. comedy “The Now.” It has also partnered with The Dodo.

The company said it plans to spend $1.1 billion on commissioning original content in its first year, totaling 7,000 short-form episodes.

Quibi will charge about $5 a month with ads and $8 without ads.
