Comedian Eric Andre’s ‘Legalize Everything’ Now Available to Stream on Netflix
Comedian Eric Andre’s new stand-up special “Legalize Everything” is now available to stream on Netflix. The special is longtime coming as this is Andre’s first one and his first major foray away from his popular Adult Swim mock talk show “The Eric Andre Show.”
Andre’s special takes its name from his 2019 tour and was filmed back in November at the Republic in New Orleans, according to Decider. The special was directed by Eric Notarnicola, a writer and producer on Nathan Fielder’s “Nathan for You.” It was executive produced by Mike Rosenstein (“Have A Good Trip”) along with Sunset Pictures and A24.
The first trailer for the special garnered mass attention as it addressed the now canceled “Cops” and its depiction of police brutality. “Is it just me or is reggae the most inappropriate music they could have picked?” Andre says, “You can’t slap reggae over police brutality footage and call it a day.”
In an interview with on the Daily Beast’s “The Last Laugh Podcast,” Andre addressed the joke saying, “I’ve been complaining about police brutality and racism my whole life. So it’s not new to me. Now people have a front row seat to it. Thank God for camera phones. And God bless the people that filmed George Floyd’s murder. They need a round of applause. Because we wouldn’t be seeing the change that’s starting to happen now, if it wasn’t for that. People have just had enough.”
Netflix also picked up Andre’s prank-based movie “Bad Trip” co-starring fellow comedians Lil Rey Howery and Tiffany Haddish. The official release date has not been announced yet.
