R.L. Stine’s “Just Beyond” series, based on the best-selling BOOM! Studios graphic novel series, has been greenlit as an eight-episode Disney+ series.
The project is expected to stream in the fall of 2021.
The paranormal mystery-horror anthology, aimed at middle-school readers but appealing to teens, will be written and executive produced by Seth Grahame-Smith. 20th Century Fox Television will produce.
Smith is adept at the genre. He wrote the books “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” and “Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter,” as well as screenplays for “Dark Shadows” and “The Lego Batman Movie.”
“Back in the day, we had a Goosebumps HorrorLand attraction at Walt Disney World,” said author R.L. Stine, who will serve as a co-executive producer. “It was one of the thrills of my life. Now I’m thrilled to be back with Disney for the TV series based on my graphic novels.”
20th Century Fox has another series on tap for Disney+: “Doogie Kealoha, M.D.”
Comic-book publisher BOOM! Studios also has a first-look TV deal with Netflix.
