NBCU’s ‘Peacock’ Will Be The Home to A+E Networks Unscripted Series Like ‘Storage Wars’ and ‘Pawn Stars’

A+E Networks has reached a major licensing deal with NBCU’s upcoming streaming service Peacock. Later this year, the SVOD service will offer streamers the ability to watch unscripted shows like Storage Wars, Cold Case Files, First 48, and Pawn Stars.

“We are excited to partner with Peacock,” said Steve MacDonald, president of global content licensing and international at A+E Networks. “We of course strongly believe in the power of the A+E Networks’ library of content, and that it will prove to strengthen Peacock’s offerings.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the deal covers hundreds of hours of episodes from A&E series including Cold Case Files, First 48, Storage Wars and History’s American Pickers, Ancient Aliens, Curse of Oak Island, Pawn Stars and scripted drama Project Blue Book.”

While Peacock will soft-launch to Xfinity X1 and Flex customers in April, the exact timing A+E and History Channel content joining the service isn’t clear, but it’s expected to come to the service later this year.

Peacock will launch nationally on July 15 with a free tier and premium version starting at $4.99/month (or free for Comcast and Cox customers). An ad-free version will be available for $9.99 per month. When it launches, the service will bring more than 15,000 hours of content, which will include news, entertainment, sports, late-night and reality from from various NBCU properties including NBC, Bravo, and E!.

Just like other streaming services, Peacock will have their own original series including reboots of Save By The Bell, Punky Brewster, and Battlestar Galactica. They also have shows like Rutherford Falls (Ed Helms), Dr. Death (Alec Baldwin), and a behind-the-scenes docs-series about Saturday Night Live.

The company has acquired the rights to many classic shows like the entire Dick Wolf library including Law & Order and Chicago Fire. Peacock will also become the exclusive home for Parks and Recreation (October 2020) and The Office (January 2021).
