Netflix Drops Trailers for ‘Away,’ ‘Kissing Booth 2’ and ‘Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy — Siege’

Several Netflix trailers have been released — a drama, comedy and animated series, respectively.

First up, Oscar winner Hilary Swank (“Boys Don’t Cry”) stars as an astronaut in the dramatic series “Away.” Emma Green (Swank) is tapped to lead the first mission to Mars, but that means leaving her husband (Josh Charles), a NASA engineer, and teenage daughter (Talitha Bateman) when they need her most.

The farther away Emma gets, the more intense the personal dynamics become for her family — and for the crew — who must put the mission before individual concerns.

“Away,” which debuts September 4, is created by Andrew Hinderaker. He executive produces along with Swank. The cast also includes Mark Ivanir, Ato Essandoh, Monique Curnen, Vivian Wu and Ray Panthaki.

On the teen front, the comedy “Kissing Booth 2” drops July 24, a sequel to the 2018 movie. It’s also based on the book “The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance.” The sequel moves the action from high school to college.

Elle (Joey King) and Lee (Joel Courtney) are best friends, and she’s just spent the summer falling for his brother Noah, now at Harvard. Elle and Lee, high-school seniors, have always dreamed of going to UC Berkeley together. Noah (Jacob Elordi) thinks she should apply to Harvard, but he’s also juggling an attraction to a new girl (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), while Elle finds herself drawn to Marco (Taylor Perez).

Finally, the official trailer for the animated series “Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy — Siege,” which launches July 30, is out. The show is from Netflix and Hasbro, in partnership with Rooster Teeth Animation. The series is about the war between the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, and the Decepticons, led by Megatron — both are battling for control of Allspark.

As the series opens, the Autobots are losing the fight — and Prime has to rally his troops.

The voice cast for “Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy — Siege” includes Jake Foushee, Jason Marnocha, Linsay Rousseau and Joe Zieja.
