Netflix Slates Second Jerry Seinfeld Stand-Up Show for May

Netflix has enhanced its long-term relationship with Jerry Seinfeld.

The comedian will debut a new hour-long stand-up show — “Jerry Seinfeld: 23 Hours to Kill” — on May 5 at New York’s restored Beacon Theater.

It’s part of a larger deal Seinfeld made with Netflix in 2017, when it signed him to two original stand-up specials. “Jerry Before Seinfeld” launched in September 2017 and combined new and archival material, such as videos from his childhood.

The streamer also airs Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” which has featured an array of comedians, from Mel Brooks and Don Rickles to Julia Louis-Dreyfus and John Mulaney. “Cars” first ran on Crackle before moving to Netflix last year.

Separately, the streamer will get exclusive rights to the Emmy-winning sitcom “Seinfeld” beginning in 2021.

Earlier this month, the streamer announced Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) is executive producing a new animated comedy. “Mulligan” takes place after aliens destroy Earth and humans have to rebuild their world.
