Some Verizon devices will now update to add Pluto TV, the free, AVOD streamer with 250-plus original and branded channels — from sports to blockbuster movies.
The service will be available on select Fios 1100 and 4100 set-top boxes and new activations of Stream TV, its exclusive Android TV set-top box, as well as an app on Android mobile devices.
Pluto TV is also accessible on Fios channel 839.
Verizon devices will include three exclusive channels: Movies on Verizon, Real Life on Verizon and Yahoo! Finance. Movies include “Donnie Darko: and “The Illusionist,” while Real Life content includes “Critical Rescue” and “Navy Seals: Untold Stories.”
An added plus: Verizon 5G technology enhances its streaming capacities.
Verizon claims nearly 116 million wireless customers, another 4 million video subscribers on FiOS and 6 million FiOS broadband users, respectively.
With more than 20 million monthly viewers, Pluto TV executives are targeting 30 million users by the end of 2020.
Pluto TV is owned by ViacomCBS, which paid $340 million for the ad-supported streamer.
