Report: Pluto TV, Verizon Team for Streaming Alliance

Free streamer Pluto TV and Verizon have made a distribution deal for pay, connected TV and mobile, reports Deadline.

Boasting more than 20 million monthly viewers, Pluto TV will now have a key slot on Verizon’s various platforms: wireless network, Stream TV and its FiOS service. Verizon 5G technology will enhance its streaming capacities.

The streamer says it expects to end this year with viewership hitting 30 million.

Pluto is owned by ViacomCBS, which paid $340 million for the ad-supported streamer. It has 250-plus channels and last week announced it added four new AMC channels. In February, Pluto TV teamed with Vidaa International, a subsidiary of Hisense, the third-largest television manufacturer in the world, for global distribution.

Verizon claims nearly 116 million wireless customers, another 4 million video subscribers on FiOS and 6 million FiOS broadband users, respectively.

When Viacom bought Pluto in January 2019, it had about 12 million monthly users.
