Roku and Fox Settle Dispute Ahead of Super Bowl, Fox Now and Fox Sports to Remain on Roku Channel Store

At midnight tonight, it was expected that Roku would remove the FOX Now, FOX Sports, FOX News, FOX Business, FOX Nation, Big 10 Network, and FOX Soccer apps from the Roku Channel Store and existing devices. Now the two sides have come to a deal, meaning you will be able to stream Super Bowl LIV on the FOX Now and FOX Sports App on your Roku device.

In a statement to The Streamable, Roku says “we are delighted that we reached an agreement with FOX to distribute FOX channels on the Roku platform. Roku customers can stream the Super Bowl through FOX Now, Fox Sports and NFL in addition to other ways.”

A Fox Corporation Spokesperson told us, “We are pleased to have reached a successful agreement with Roku. FOX’s leading suite of apps will continue to be available on the Roku platform.”

The exact nature of the dispute was not clear, but it is thought to be over a revenue share on ads. Roku gets a cut of ad revenue from those streamed in apps on their platform. The dispute came just weeks after AT&T TV NOW was removed from the Roku Channel Store. It did not have an impact on the Fox Sports Go app, which is now owned and managed by Sinclair Media Group.

With the return of the FOX Apps to the Roku platform, streamers will now be able to watch the Super Bowl in 4K on Roku Premiere, Roku Premiere+, Roku Streaming Stick+, and Roku Ultra devices.
