Watch This: The Best In Streaming This Week Including ‘The Morning Show’ and The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards

The highly-anticipated second-season debut of Apple TV+’s The Morning Show finally hits screens this week, and everyone will finally find out what has happened in the wake of the monumental on-air expose by Alex (Jennifer Anniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) of the sexual misconduct and toxic culture at UBA.

The other big event this week is the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on CBS and Paramount+. This year, the number of streaming projects nominated completely dwarfed the number from earlier years, with the top two nominated shows being The Mandalorian from Disney+ and The Crown from Netflix, with the shows landing 24 each.

While those are at the top of the list, they, by far, are not the only great things streaming this week. Watch this:

C’mon Down!

Monday marks season 50, episode number 1 of The Price Is Right on CBS. Drew Carey has held down the helm since 2007 of what is considered one of the greatest television game shows of all. The show airs weekday mornings on CBS and streams on Paramount+. CBS is planning a set of prime-time specials to celebrate the landmark.

Paramount Plus

Paramount+ is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 40,000+ TV show episodes from BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and more. The lineup includes “1883,” “Tulsa King,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob SquarePants,” and “PAW Patrol.” Subscribers can watch the NFL, college football, The Masters, college basketball, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa, Serie A, and NWSL. The service also offers the option to watch your live CBS affiliate. The upgraded ad-free package includes premium movies and shows from Showtime.

Subscribers can choose between the Essential Plan (which includes ads) for $5.99/month, or go commercial-free and add more movies with Paramount+ with SHOWTIME for $11.99/month.

Subscribers to the more expensive plan will also get access to your local CBS affiliate to stream your local news, prime-time lineup, and late-night. You will also be able to download offline and watch select shows in 4K.

With the lower-cost “Essential” plan, you will still be able to watch live NFL games, Champions League, and national news – but you will no longer get your local CBS affiliate.

With their new app, enjoy advanced recommendations, curated homepages, and new content categories while still being able to stream major live sports like NFL, College Football, College Basketball. Sports fans will also appreciate the service’s inclusion of NFL on CBS, PGA Tour, along with every match of UEFA Champions League and Serie A.

Floribama Shore is Back

MTV’s Floribama Shore returns for a fifth season on Thursday night. While the first season of the series stuck to Panama City Beach, Fla., in subsequent seasons, the show has hit the road, going to other parts of Florida, and eventually Arizona and even Montana. This season, the housemates are headed to Georgia for their usual round of partying, working, and living in their “new environment.”

Robert Langdon Comes To Television

Also on Thursday, Peacock premieres Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol, which serves as a prequel to the Da Vinci Code film series. The new TV series stars Ashley Zukerman as Robert Langdon. In the series, Langdon is hired by the CIA to solve a number of deadly puzzles when his mentor goes missing.

Peacock

Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that includes original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series. Peacock is home to “Yellowstone,” and “The Office,” as well as original hits like “Poker Face” and “Bel-Air.” You can also watch live sports including NFL, MLB, WWE, Olympics, Premier League, NASCAR, French Open, College Football and Basketball, and PGA Tour. Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.

Peacock includes news, entertainment, sports, late-night, and reality from various NBCU properties including NBC, Bravo, and E!.

Peacock also includes the entire library of Bravo shows and has exclusives like “Below Deck: Down Under.” They also include live and on-demand access to Hallmark channels.

The company has acquired the rights to many classic shows like “Parks and Recreation,” and the entire Dick Wolf library including “Law & Order” and “Chicago Fire.”

The service also features blockbusters and critically-acclaimed films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination and content acquired from Hollywood’s biggest studios.

Saying Goodbye to the Nine-Nine

The series finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs Thursday night on NBC. After more than 150 episodes, and homes on two networks, the police comedy finally comes to a close in the hour-long special “The End.” How it will leave the characters is yet to be seen.

The Inside Story of ‘The Greatest’

Ken Burns, known for his in-depth documentary takes on many subjects over the years, turns his learned eye on the life of Muhammad Ali. The fascinating story of the life of the man known to everyone, sports fans and otherwise, simply as “The Greatest,” is the subject of a four-night, eight-hour documentary on PBS. The series airs starting Thursday night on most PBS stations.

Bradley, Back to You

Apple TV+ brings back The Morning Show for a second season. In the season one finale, Alex (Jennifer Anniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) spoke out on-air against the misogyny and toxic work environment that had permeated the entire management structure at the UBA network. The last we saw, network boss Fred Micklen (Tom Irwin) frantically demanded that the show be yanked off the air in mid-stream. Now comes the fallout.

Eastwood’s Latest

Cry Macho premieres Friday in theaters and on HBO Max. The western, directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, is based on the 1975 Richard Nash novel of the same name. An ex-rodeo star agrees to help his former boss get his son out of Mexico. The son lives with his mom and has turned to a life of crime, participating in cockfights with a rooster — named Macho. Eastwood stars along with Dwight Yoakam.

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards airs Sunday night on CBS. The big surprise this year is simply the sheer number of streaming shows up for awards.
