Whoopi Goldberg, who appears in various “Star Trek” incarnations as Guinan, a bartender in the USS Enterprise-D’s starship lounge, just got her latest Trekkie invite.
On TV’s “The View” Wednesday, Patrick Stewart asked Goldberg to play her familiar character on the second season of “Star Trek: Picard.”
The first season of “Picard” begins Jan. 23 and streams on CBS All Access.
The EGOT-winning (Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony) actress (“Ghost,” “Sister Act”) quickly accepted the invitation, offered on behalf of Stewart and Alex Kurtzman, “Picard” executive producer, Variety reported.
“‘Star Trek’ was one of the great experiences from the beginning to the end,” Goldberg happily replied. “I had the best, best, best time. Best time ever!”
Goldberg appeared in 29 episodes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” beginning in 1988, including some of the series’ most popular episodes, such as “Yesterday’s Enterprise” and “I, Borg.”
She was also featured in the films “Star Trek” Generations” and “Star Trek” Nemesis.”
