Amazon Studios Taps Former Netflix Executive Christian Davin to Lead Movie Marketing

Fern Siegel

Amazon Studios has a new global head of movie marketing. Former Netflix executive Christian Davin is joining the streamer, reports Deadline.

Prior to his Amazon appointment, Davin worked at Netflix as vice president, global creative marketing for films. He was responsible for marketing its streaming slate, including “The Irishman,” “Roma,” “Bird Box,” “Dolemite Is My Name,” “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” “The Kissing Booth” and “Murder Mystery.”

Before Netflix, Davin held senior executive posts for creative advertising and global sponsorships for Warner Bros. The nine-year WB vet supervised the marketing for various movies, including “Argo,” “A Star Is Born,” “Creed,” “42,” “The Town” and “Get Hard.”

He also had stints at Miramax and 20th Century Fox.

Davin will report to Andy Donkin, head of marketing at Amazon Prime Video.

Separately, Amazon Prime Video announced it’s adding HBO original series, Warner Bros. movies and 20 “Sesame Street” episodes to its platform for free. Amazon account holders in the U.S. can stream all episodes of HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” “Barry,” “Ballers,” “Silicon Valley” and “Succession.” Prime Video is also offering CBSN — the 24-hour digital news channel from CBS News.
