Disney Plus Celebrates ‘Star Wars’ History With Concept Art

May the 4th, aka Star Wars Day, is right around the corner and Disney is continuing its commemoration of the treasured day. In an effort to get the celebration rolling, Disney+ has launched new concept art chronicling the series’ four-decade journey.

According to Variety, the streamers homepage carousel was updated to feature “‘Star Wars’ concept art from legendary designer and illustrator Ralph McQuarrie from his 1975 painting of the droids in the desert.” Subscribers are now able to go directly to the “Star Wars” brand page by clicking on the carousel art. The streaming service also updated the “Star Wars” page to feature “an adaption of character art from Jason Palmer’s ‘Star Wars’ Celebration 2019 commemorative mural and other artists.”

Artwork will be available for the following titles in the Skywalker saga: “A New Hope” (1977), “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980), “Return of the Jedi” (1983), “The Phantom Menace” (1999), “Attack of the Clones” (2002), “Revenge of the Sith” (2005), “The Force Awakens” (2015) and “The Last Jedi” (2017), Variety notes.

In addition, Disney+ will feature concept art for other “Star Wars” films and series, including, “Rogue One,” “Solo,” “The Mandalorian,” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” series, “Star Wars: Rebels” and “Star Wars: Resistance.”

In April, Disney+ announced they will debut “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian” a new docuseries chronicling the making of the hit show. “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian” will see executive producer Jon Favreau sit down with the cast and crew “to share an unprecedented look at the making of the series, which quickly became a pop culture phenomenon after premiering in November.” In each of its eight episodes, viewers will get a look at various aspects that went into making the live action series via interviews, never-before-seen footage, and roundtable conversations hosted by Favreau.

They went on to reveal “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker,” will debut on the platform two months early on May the 4th making the entire saga available in one place.
