If you want to stream Harry Potter on HBO Max, you will have to make sure you watch before August 25th. After that, all eight films will be leaving the service for now.
The exact streaming destination of the films are unknown, but during their run on HBO Max, they were also made available on NBCU cable networks, who own the streaming rights for the film. It’s possible that we could see it on NBCU’s newly launch streaming service, Peacock, at some point.
To the delightful surprise of Harry Potter fans, all eight films in the Harry Potter film franchise were made available on HBO Max at launch. The movies weren’t thought to be available as part of the service, since the digital rights were sold to NBCU in 2016 through 2025.
It had been known for a while that WarnerMedia had been trying to bring Harry Potter back into the family. At the Television Critics Association panel in January, HBO Max’s Content Chief Kevin Reilly said “At some point, you can’t have our experience without having Harry Potter be a part of it.”
Other films leaving the service in August include titles like Dumb and Dumber, Magic Mike, Kill Bill, and You’ve Got Mail.
