Seinfeld is Leaving Hulu and Coming to Netflix Globally in 2021 in Exclusive Deal

After losing Friends to HBO Max and The Office to NBCU’s upcoming streaming service — Netflix has landed a big one of their own. The company announced that they have reached a deal with Sony Pictures Television to bring the entire 180 episodes of the series globally to the service.

The series is currently available on Hulu, but will move to Netflix when the deal expires in 2021. Hulu paid $150 million for the U.S. rights to the series back in 2016, while Amazon Prime currently have rights around the world. When it comes to Netflix, the series will be available in 4K, which is a first for the series.

“Seinfeld is the television comedy that all television comedy is measured against,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “It is as fresh and funny as ever and will be available to the world in 4K for the first time. We can’t wait to welcome Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer to their new global home on Netflix.”

With Friends, The Office, and Seinfeld all finding new homes — The Big Bang Theory and Two And A Half Men could be next. Last month, it was reported that HBO is nearing a deal to bring The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men to the streaming service. As of now, neither show has had it’s library available for streaming — except for a few episodes on CBS All Access.
