Broadway, Music Stars Live-Stream At-Home Concerts During Pandemic
SiriusXM host Seth Rudetsky and producer James Wesley won’t let the stars dim on Broadway. To raise donations for The Actors Fund, which helps those working in all facets of the entertainment industry, they debuted “Stars in the House.”
“Stars in the House” features Broadway actors performing songs in their homes. Tony-winner Kelli O’Hara (“The King and I”) and Lindsay Mendez (“Carousel”) are among those participating. Broadway vets Norbert Leo Butz, Beth Leavel, Idina Menzel, Jeremy Jordan and Kristin Chenoweth, among others, are on board, too.
During the pandemic, additional artists are streaming performances on social media to supply live entertainment, reports CBS News.
CBS noted Global Citizen, which helps fight global poverty, kicked off its “At Home Together” series with Coldplay’s Chris Martin on Instagram. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen appear on Instagram, too. Pink sang Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love,” on Instagram live. Katharine McPhee (“Waitress,” “Smash”) and David Foster say they will live stream daily. So will Miley Cyrus, who launched an Instagram show “Bright Minded: Live with Miley” airing daily at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Keith Urban also shared a performance on social media, alongside his Oscar-wining wife Nicole Kidman.
There are even impromptu concerts popping up. For example Shenandoah gave a free-streamed concert, “Keep the Music Playing” on Facebook Live last night.
