Once HBO Max launched, there was much speculation about the fate of DC Universe.
“Doom Patrol” now streams on HBO Max as well as DC Universe, while the Snyder Cut of the “Justice League” will head straight to HBO Max in 2021, with DC Universe losing some of its mojo as a result.
HBO Max is sweetening the transition, notes ComicBookMovie.com. Through December, it’s offering to add HBO Max for $4.99 month to DC Universe subscribers. But Bounding Into Comics points out that “the price reverts to Max’s normal monthly rate” of $14.99 after six months.
Both services are part of WarnerMedia, but HBO Max, which launched May 27, is seen as the streamer with the most muscle. Many insiders question the wisdom of competing platforms under the same corporate umbrella.
In addition, WarnerMedia confirmed the animated series “Harley Quinn” will be coming to the new streamer, though no date is set, reports Collider.
“Harley Quinn,” voiced by Kaley Cuoco (“The Big Bang Theory”), debuted in November 2019 and just finished season two June 26.
HBO already houses its share of superheroes. Its library includes “Wonder Woman” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
