Dish Reveals Sling TV Lost 56,000 Subscribers in Q2 2020, Service Is Now Down to 2.25 Million Users

It’s been a rough couple of months for Sling TV. The Dish-owned live streaming service recorded a 56,000 subscriber loss in Q2 2020, the parent company stated in their earnings report. This is now the streamer’s third recorded loss since its launch in 2015. The service is now at 2.25 million subscribers, a steady fall from the 2.311 million subscribers they reported last quarter.

Earlier this week, Disney reported that their competing service, Hulu Live TV climbed to 3.4 million subscribers. Sling remains the second largest vMVPD as YouTube TV was last reported at 2 million users, and AT&T TV NOW lost 68,000 subscribers in their second quarter, leaving them with just 720,000 users.

Last week, The Streamable learned that on September 1, Sling Orange customers will receive BET and Nick Jr. (which were previously on Sling Blue and Comedy Extra).

However, Sling Blue customers will lose the Paramount Network, which will be shifting to Comedy Extra ($5 a month). Fortunately, the most notable show on the channel “Yellowstone” wraps up on August 23, meaning that you will still be able to finish the entire season.

In December, Sling TV increased the price of their Sling Blue and Sling Orange plans to $30 just before the end of the year. This was the first time Sling increased the price of Sling Blue and the first increase to Sling Orange since June 2018 (from $20 a month).
