Disney Plus to Debut ‘The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special’

It’s a double delight for LEGO and “Star Wars” fans.

Disney+ is premiering “The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special” on November 17. The show celebrates Life Day, the Wookiee holiday held in Kashyyyk, Chewbacca’s homeworld.

The show begins after “The Rise of Skywalker” and features Chewie, Rey, Poe, Finn, Rose and the droids gearing up for Life Day, the event highlighted in the “Star Wars Holiday Special” in 1978.

The premise: Rey sets off with BB-8 to learn more about the Force. At a Jedi Temple, she is flung into a timeline adventure that encompasses key moments in “Star Wars” film history. Rey meets Luke, Yoda, Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, as well as the heroes and villains from all nine films.

The big question: Will she make it back in time for the Life Day festivities?

To enhance cross-brand marketing, the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, a series of action figures and starships, will be released September 1. So will the LEGO Star Wars Holiday sticker book.

“The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special” is produced by Atomic Cartoons, the LEGO Group, and Lucasfilm. It is directed by Ken Cunningham (“Lego Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar”) and written by David Shayne (“Lego Star Wars: All Stars”), who is also co-executive producer.
