What’s Coming to Streaming, Including ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Succession’

Disney+ will stream season 32 of “The Simpsons” Sept. 29. With this addition, 706 episodes of the iconic animated series will be on the service. Fans can also update their Disney+ profile with one of eight avatars featuring the Simpsons characters, including Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Krusty The Clown, Ralph Wiggum, and Dr. Hibbert. Disney+ is also the home of “The Simpsons Movie” and the latest Simpsons shorts: “The Good, The Bart, and The Loki” and “The Force Awakens From Its Nap.”

Here are additional deals and projects:

  • The HBO hit “Succession” premieres its third season on Oct. 17. HBO also sent out the official storyline: “Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall at the end of season two, Logan Roy begins season three in a perilous position, scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances. Tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.”

  • “Only Murders in the Building” got a second season renewal from Hulu. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez star in the mystery series. The three true-crime fans set out to solve a murder in their Upper West Side building. “Only Murders in the Building” debuted as the most-watched Hulu original comedy at its Aug. 31 premiere date.

  • “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” got a green light for a third season from Disney+. Created and executive-produced by Tim Federle (“Ferdinand,” “Better Nate Than Ever”), season three follows the Wildcats as they leave the hallways of East High for sleepaway camp. Production for the third season will relocate from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles and begin later this year.

  • Blue Ant Media announced its FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) channel HauntTV is streaming on The Roku Channel. Blue Ant Media’s library of original and acquired paranormal-inspired programming includes “Ghostly Encounters” and “My Worst Nightmares.”

  • Apple TV+ is expanding its kids’ programming content with the acquisition of the “Yo Gabba Gabba!” library. In partnership with WildBrain, Apple TV+ has ordered a new 20-episode half-hour series based on the former Nickelodeon show. The new, reimagined series teaches kids and families life lessons through song and dance.

  • “Locke & Key” on Netflix received its second season premiere date. The fantasy series will return on Oct. 22. Separately, Hayley Atwell (“Captain America”) will voice the iconic “Tomb Raider” video-game character in the streamer’s upcoming anime series.

  • Steph Curry’s Unanimous Media will produce the film “Black Brother, Black Brother,” set in the world of fencing, for Netflix. Based on Jewell Parker Rhodes’ YA book, it’s about 12-year-old Donte, who wishes he were more like Trey, his popular, lighter-skinned brother.

  • Judge Judy Sheindlin returns to the courtroom with a new IMDb TV original series, “Judy Justice,” premiering Nov. 1. The arbitration-based program will also feature three new members of Judy Sheindlin’s courtroom staff: a retired Los Angeles probation officer and entrepreneur, court stenographer Whitney Kumar, a board-certified court reporter in the state of California, and Sarah Rose, a law clerk and Judge Sheindlin’s granddaughter.

  • AMC+ and RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, has acquired the comedic drama “Silent Night,” set to stream exclusively on AMC+ in North America this December. The film focuses on a group of friends that comes together for an eventful Christmas dinner.
