It looks like Netflix has nabbed one of the big dogs for their Italian branch. According to Deadline, the streaming service has hired Eleonara Andreatta as the vice president of Italian original series. Andreatta comes to the streamer with a 25-year career at Italian public service broadcaster Rai.
Andreatta will begin her role at Netflix in July and will be replacing Felipe Tewes who takes on soon-to-announced role at the streamer. Andreatta will report to Kelly Luegenbiehl, vice president of original series at Netflix in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“Throughout her career, Tinny has championed world-class Italian storytelling, working with the best creative talent in Italy and helping to create some of the most ambitious projects on Italian television. I know she will build further on the wonderful work Felipe Tewes has done to help establish our presence in Italy,” stated Luegenbiehl.
Andreatta will oversee Netflix’s growth in Italian originals, following the launch of series such as “Suburra” and “Baby,” which are heading into their third seasons. The streamer began producing Italian originals back in 2017 and plans to debut 10 new series a year by 2022.
