Nicole Kidman’s Blossom Films Partners With Amazon for ‘My Lovely Wife’

Amazon Studios is teaming with Nicole Kidman’s production company for an original film “My Lovely Wife,” per Deadline. Blossom Films previously struck a first-look deal with Amazon Prime Video.

The project is based on Samantha Downing’s bestselling book. It’s a twisted suburban crime thriller about husband-wife serial killers. The murder spree spices up their marriage — until a victim is found, which creates unforeseen consequences for the family. A Criminal Element review describes the mystery as “fiendishly plotted.”

“My Lovely Wife” has been published in 23 countries and is a Best First Novel nominee for the 2020 Edgar Award.

Kidman’s company already has a deal with Amazon for “The Expatriates.” Blossom’s shows are female-driven and other titles, including “Big Little Lies” and “The Undoing,” both on HBO, star Kidman.

Amazon has also released the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi thriller “Tales From the Loop,” about a machine built to explore the mysteries of the universe. The series premieres April 3. As the trailer notes: “Not everything in life makes sense.”

“Loop” is based on the narrative art book by Simon Stålenhag. The series stars Rebecca Hall (“Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” “The Town”), Paul Schneider (“Parks and Recreation”), Daniel Zolghadri (“Eighth Grade”), Duncan Joiner (“Waco”) and Jonathan Pryce (“The Two Popes”).

Finally, Amazon Studios and Channel 4 have commissioned “Frank of Ireland,” a new comedy from Sharon Horgan (“Catastrophe,” currently on the streamer). It’s from indie production company Merman, run by Horgan and Clelia Mountford. The show will be available on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S., Canada and Australia.

“Frank of Ireland” stars Brian Gleeson (“Peaky Blinders”), who wrote the series with his brother Domhnall Gleeson (“The Revenant, Ex-Machina”) and Michael Moloney. The comedy follows a 32-year-old musician who lives with his mother in Dublin and pines for his ex-girlfriend. Brad Beale, vice president, worldwide content licensing at Amazon Studios, calls it “smart, wholly original and incredibly funny.”
