PlayStation Vue’s New Deal with Disney Covers FX and National Geographic Networks

PlayStation Vue has been able to renegotiate deals with Turner, NBCU, NFL Network, and now Disney. In a new multi-year agreement, the deal covers not only channels previously owned by Disney like ABC, ESPN, and Disney Channels, but covers their recently acquired ones like FX and National Geographic. As part of the deal, PlayStation Vue added ABC News Live, ABC’s streaming new network that offers 24/7 programming including breaking news and event coverage, on the service earlier this week.

“PlayStation Vue delivers a television viewing experience through a seamless user interface that focuses on personalization, and that is an attractive offering as consumers navigate their video options,” said Sean Breen, SVP, Disney Media Distribution. “We look forward to continue serving subscribers the full value of our content from Walt Disney Television and ESPN, which now includes the FX and National Geographic networks and the newly launched ACC Network.”

With another deal signed by PlayStation Vue, the company has upcoming deals expiring this month with HBO, Cinemax, and NBA TV. To date, the only deal that PlayStation Vue was unable to extend was with NESN which saw the channel dropped from their service. In the past, the service has had disputes with Sinclair Media Group which so locals disappear for a few months and Viacom which had their channels removed in November 2016.
