One of the top free ad-supported streaming services continues to gobble up content. Today, Pluto TV launched MAVTV Select, a channel dedicated to motorsports. Pluto TV also struck a deal to add more than 450 hours of content from Distribution Solutions starting this fall.
MAVTV Select features motorsports events and coverage like the Chili Bowl Nationals, NASCAR’s ARCA Racing Series, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Pro Pulling League, American Sprint Car Series, Off Road Racing Series, SRL Modifieds, and more. It also features shows like “Lucas Oil On The Edge,” “Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday Night Racing,” and “Optima’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car.”
More content will be coming from Distribution Solutions. Viewers will be able to see family favorites such as “The Cat in the Hat” and “Benji,” cult classics such as “Gone in 60 Seconds,” and “Gumby.” The lineup also includes indie horror flicks like “Hostile” and “Open 24 Hours.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Alliance Entertainment and its expansive collection of top-quality content to the world of Pluto TV,” said Will Gurman, VP, global content partnerships for Pluto TV, in a statement. “With this partnership, we look forward to bringing our viewers an even wider array of genres and programming to lean back and enjoy, ranging from reality to history, kids content, and more — all for free.”
In recent weeks, Pluto TV has significantly bolstered its Spanish-language content. The service now features more than 250 channels of ad-supported TV.
Pluto TV reached 52 million monthly active users globally at the end of Q2 2021. At the end of 2020, Pluto TV has reached 30.1 million monthly active users in the U.S. It is The Streamable’s choice for Best Free Streaming Service.
Pluto TV is a free live TV streaming service that provides more than 250 channels of live TV and thousands of on demand movies and TV shows.
Most of what you’ll find on Pluto TV qualifies as “background television.” It’s fine to keep on while you’re scrolling on your phone or cooking something in the kitchen.
Because these aren’t traditional live TV channels, it’s not a great option for live events, news, or sports, but it’s a solid choice for cord cutters who want to supplement their other services with some “comfort food” TV.
