In a report by Variety, they shared that Roku plans to launch a streaming marketplace similar to Amazon Channels.
While Roku already allows users to subscribe to some services like HBO NOW and CBS All Access in their Channel Store — they require a separate download for each streaming service.
Many expect Roku to launch a single app where users can discover, subscribe, and then access all the content across their subscribed services.
It is expected that this will be built on top of their next generation billing platform Roku Pay — so users just have to enter payment information a single time.
Roku is not the only one trying to build an all-in-one video subscription marketplace. Earlier this month, Bloomberg reported that Apple might be launching a similar service in 2019.
