Fans of bounty hunters won’t get their fix of “The Mandalorian” this year, but you will get the first season of “The Book of Boba Fett.” Disney+ will release the premiere episode December 29.
Get Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for just $14.99 a month ($12 savings).
Disney describes the series like this:
“The Book of Boba Fett,” a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.”
The series will star Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen. Fans got their first taste of the series in a post-credits sequence after the last episode of Season 2 of “The Mandalorian.” Fett and Shand blasted their way into Jabba’s palace and Fett took a seat on the throne previously occupied by the intergalactic gangster who was strangled to death by Princess Leia in “Return of the Jedi.” (Bib Fortuna had taken Jabba’s seat and put on a few pounds in the intervening years.)
If you’d like to see that scene, cue up Season 2, Episode 8 of “The Mandalorian” and fast-forward to 41:33.
Disney plans around 10 Star Wars series for Disney+. Diego Luna has confirmed that the first season of “Andor” has completed filming. Ewan McGregor is also working on a live-action “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series.
