Tubi has entered into an alliance with LG Electronics to reach viewers in the U.S. and Canada. By preloading its app on LG mobile hones, millions can access its free programming.
The app will be available on MetroPCS and US Cellular here, and on Rogers, Bell and Telus, among others, in Canada. More carriers will be added in future.
Andrea Clarke-Hall, vice president, business development, Tubi, noted the move “delivers on our mission to democratize content.”
“Our partnership with Tubi is a great opportunity for LG customers to experience streaming content on their smartphones,” added Yongsuk Kim, vice president, strategy, LG Mobile.
Tubi has a huge library of 20,000-plus movies and television shows from over 250 content partners. As of December 2019, Tubi, the largest ad-supported VOD service, claimed 163 million hours watched.
The AVOD platform also began streaming the first and second season of “The Masked Singer,” the hit Fox show, last week. Season three will be available in the coming weeks, after its broadcast airing. “The Masked Singer” is the top show on television, averaging a 3.3 Live + 7 Day rating and 15 million viewers across all platforms.
Tubi Kids is also trying to extend its streaming service. The streamer recently expanded the Tubi Kids library to iOS users. Given the pandemic and nationwide stay-at-home orders, the access is a plus for kids and parents alike.
Tubi is currently available on Android and iOS mobile devices, Amazon Echo Show, Google Nest Hub Max, Comcast Xfinity X1, Cox Contour, and on OTT devices, such as Amazon Fire TV, Vizio TVs, Sony TVs, Samsung TVs, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Android TV, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
