As racial tensions spread across the nation following the wrongful deaths of multiple African-American citizens, Warner Bros. is trying to do their part in educating and creating more awareness on systemic racism. In an announcement on Twitter, the studio revealed they released “Just Mercy,” a film following the work of civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson on digital platforms for free. The film will be available at no cost to consumers for the month of June.

“Just Mercy” stars Michael B. Jordan, who plays Stevenson, as he defends Walter McMillian, played by Jamie Foxx, in order to fight a wrongful murder conviction. “Just Mercy” was released in 2019 and was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
“We believe in the power of story,” Warner Bros. said in a statement. “Our film ‘Just Mercy,’ based on the life work of civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson, is one resource we can humbly offer to those who are interested in learning more about the systemic racism that plagues our society. For the month of June, ‘Just Mercy’ will be available to rent for free across digital platforms in the U.S.”
“To actively be part of the change our country is so desperately seeking, we encourage you to learn more about our past and the countless injustices that have led us to where we are today,” the company continued. “Thank you to the artists, storytellers and advocates who helped make this film happen.
