What’s Coming To Tubi In January 2021, Including ‘Blue Valentine’ and ‘Grease’
Romantic drama “Blue Valentine” is streaming on Tubi with first-rate leads — Ryan Gosling is Dean (Ryan Gosling) and Cindy (Michelle Williams) is the girl he falls for. Gosling, best known for “The Big Short” and “La La Land,” plays a guy who lacks ambition, unlike his girlfriend, who works hard to sustain their modest life. Their courtship is sweet but eventually, their marriage falls apart. It’s a nuanced performance for both, while Williams (“Manchester By The Sea,” “Fosse/Verdon”) was nominated for an Oscar.
Conversely, the popular “Grease” celebrates the music and look of the 1950s, while “Grease 2,” the sequel, takes place in 1961, two years after the original ends. The latter is best known for featuring Michelle Pfeiffer in her first starring role, along with a new cast. But it’s the mega-hit original, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as Rydell High’s star-crossed couple, that sizzles. So does it’s terrific pop score and some fun performances, especially by Stockard Channing and the Pink Ladies.
Also, coming to Tubi will be the Fox series (January 10th) “The Masked Dancer”, which debuts on live TV on December 27th. A spin-off to the “The Masked Singer”, celebrity contestants shake their tail feathers while covered from head-to-toe in elaborate costumes and face masks, leaving audiences to guess their identities.
