AMC Theaters to Stream NFL Sunday Ticket Out-Of-Market Games In-Theaters For Free

AMC Theaters announced that they will begin streaming NFL Sunday Ticket out-of-market football games at their movies theaters around the country. At ~40 theaters throughout the U.S in 25 markets, they will stream one select game in each market that isn’t available on local TV. Some of the largest theaters and the games they will be offering are listed below.

For now, the tickets themselves are free, so long as you join their AMC Stubs loyalty program and purchase a $10 Food & Beverage gift card. The company did something similar two years ago during the 2019 NFL season, prior to theaters being shut-down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

How to Watch Sunday Ticket and NFL RedZone At Home

While DirecTV satellite subscribers can get NFL Sunday Ticket for free when they sign-up for most plans, this is a good inexpensive alternative to watch additional action that isn’t airing in your market.

DirecTV also offers NFL Sunday Ticket Online for those who can’t get satellite in their homes for $300-400 a season – or $120 if you are a student.

Streamers have also have had the option to watch NFL RedZone instead, which is available with a 7-Day Free Trial of fuboTV, Hulu Live TV, or YouTube TV.

Customers can also get it for only $21 for their first month of Sling TV.

During their Q2 2021 Earnings Call, AMC Entertainment’s CEO Adam Aron suggested that something like this could be coming when asked if they would hold viewing parties for mainstream sports.

We’ve had very good luck with UFC, and there’s every indication that they’d like to see us continue. We’ve talked before to some of the major professional sporting leagues, and they have not yet been willing to grant rights to movie theater operators to show movies in theaters — to show sporting events in theaters.

I do think the holy grail on this one would be if we could secure 1 of the 4 major leagues — to secure rights from 1 or more of the 4 major sporting leagues to show live sporting — live professional sporting events at our theaters. Also, there are — there’s some collegiate football that draws 100,000 people into football stadiums all over the country. College football would be something else where I think it would be a really powerful draw at AMC.

2 years ago, we experimented showing some NFL games on our theaters — at our theaters and that’s for — just for 1 year. And I can tell you categorically, seeing an NFL game broadcast on a 40-foot-high screen is just amazing, unbelievable. The quality is so good — of the image. I know that if we can secure the rights affordably, I think it would be a big hit.

AMC has been experimenting more now that it has hit meme stock status. Recently, the company announced that they would begin to accept cryptocurrency to purchase tickets and concessions later this year. While many of the biggest movies this year have been available to stream the same day as theaters, Disney announced that they will be releasing the rest of their 2021 slate with a 30-45 exclusive window to theaters.
