“Normal People,” BBC and Hulu’s drama series, will officially launch on April 26 in the UK and will make its way in the U.S. on April 29. Directed by Oscar-nominated director, Lenny Abrahamson, the series will be available on BBC Three in the UK as well as BBC One and RTE in Ireland. Dates for the latter have not been revealed as yet.
The 12-part drama is an adaptation of a bestselling novel by Sally Rooney with the same name. The show “follows the complicated relationship of two teenagers from the end of their school-days in small town Ireland to Trinity College, Dublin,” Variety stated.
“My favorite scenes from the book generally took the form of conversations between the two protagonists—in abandoned houses, in apartment kitchens, in cars, and in bed,” Rooney said, according to Vanity Fair. “I’m excited to see those dynamics beginning to unfold in a new way on the screen.”
Abrahamson, who garnered an Oscar nod for directing “The Room” back in 2016, directed the first six episodes of the series, while Hettie Macdonald, who directed the miniseries “Howard’s End,” directed the final six episodes.
