DIRECTV NOW Adds Support for Siri & Apple’s TV App, as well as Ability to Automatically Sign-In to TV Everywhere Apps

This morning, DIRECTV NOW updated their iOS and tvOS Apps to allow users to search for shows using Siri or Text and open directly in the DIRECTV NOW App.

The service also is in the process of integrating Apple’s Single Sign-On. This means you will be able to log-in to your DIRECTV NOW account on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV to automatically unlock TV Everywhere apps.

To start using the feature, you must update the DIRECTV NOW App on iOS and tvOS. Some users have noticed even after update, that the new feature is still in the process of fully rolling out.

To try it out, search for a show like This is Us and you’ll notice an option to open the show in the DIRECTV NOW app. For upcoming shows and events, you can add them to your “Up Next” list for easy access in DIRECTV NOW.

DIRECTV NOW joins PlayStation Vue and Fubo, who added support last October, and this January respectively. While Hulu also supports the TV App, it is only available for their SVOD service, not Hulu Live TV.

You can see a full list of streaming integrations to the TV App here.
