Disney Plus to Launch ‘Frozen 2’ Early in the UK and Ireland, Film Will Start Streaming July 3
“Frozen 2” joins a host of films getting an early digital release this year. Disney says, the widely popular animated film will begin streaming on Disney+ UK and Ireland on July 3. The film was originally slated to debut on the platform on July 17.
The second installment in the franchise follows Elsa and her friends as they travel beyond their kingdom of Arendelle in order to discover the origin of Elsa’s magical powers. The film features the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, “Frozen 2” is the second highest-grossing animated film of all time, according to Deadline.
Back in March, the streaming service surprised fans when they announced “Frozen 2” would be coming to Disney+ in the U.S. three months ahead of schedule. The film, which was originally supposed to debut on June 26, was made available for U.S. streamers on March 15.
In April, the streaming giant also revealed that “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker” would be making its way onto the platform on May the 4th. “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” was released in theaters on December 20th, so the early release came four months and 14 days after debuting in theaters.
