HBO Says Streaming Up 40% in Wake of COVID-19

HBO is seeing a surge in streaming traffic as more and more people stay home. HBO NOW hit its highest level of usage on Saturday, March 14th since last summer. Overall, the company says that time spent on the platform as up 40% from its four week average.

With Westworld leading the way as the #1 series on the platform, other shows have taken advantage of the gains. Big Little Lies, Chernobyl, Game of Thrones, and His Dark Materials have all seen over 50% growth in viewership. Classic series like The Wire has triple their audience, while Sex and The City and The Sopranos have double their growth.

Customers are bingeing even more — viewing 3+ episodes of HBO series content — with grow of 65% from the prior four weeks. In addition to series, new release movies like Fast & The Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Dark Phoenix has seen 70% growth in engagement.
